Seattle is starting over again with a new general manager (Jerry Dipoto) and manager (Scott Servais) but the core parts remain the same.
The next national game on the schedule pits the Seattle Mariners against the Texas Rangers. The Yankees are starting Masahiro Tanaka, who is still trying to work his way back from offseason elbow surgery. A large part of that was due to Dallas Keuchel, who had a monster year with a 20-8 record, 2.48 ERA and 216 strikeouts in 232 innings, winning the AL Cy Young in the process. The Astros shocked the baseball world last year, going 86-76 and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2005. The big headliner of the day is the game starting first, with the Houston Astros and New York Yankees facing off on ESPN. And though Sunday had a bit of an appetizer with three regular season games (including a World Series rematch between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets), things really pick up on Monday with a loaded slate of 12 games. After a long offseason and a Spring Training schedule that felt even longer, the 2016 MLB season is underway.
